The Logophile Book Tag

I’m in a reading mood today, I got quite a bit of ‘Fierce like a Firestorm’ read before doing this post and I plan to read more later. I am so happy, as I have been finding this book quite slow and hard to get through, yet today that seems to be mostly gone.

Anyway, thank you very much Sahi  for tagging me to do the Logophile Book Tag. Please do check out her blog, I have only just discovered her and I love her posts already.

After checking out the original post I found out a few interesting things. Firstly, the word logophile means ‘a lover of words’, isn’t that interesting, and all the questions are based on various rarely used expressions. So let’s get into this tag:

EFFULGENT | BRILLIANTLY RADIANT
A BOOK WITH A BEAUTIFUL COVER

I really think there are many books out there with amazing covers that just make you want to buy them, so I went with one that I haven’t mentioned on my blog yet. ‘The Queen’s Poisoner

I bought this book this summer and I have yet to read it. I have high expectations for this as the ratings are really high on Goodreads.

METANOIA | THE JOURNEY OF CHANGING ONE’S MIND, HEART, SELF, OR WAY OF LIFE
A CHARACTER WHO GOES THROUGH A MAJOR TRANSFORMATION

I must say, recently I read more and more books with very poor character development. This cannot be said about Asha from  ‘The Last Namsara’.

I read this book last year and I absolutely loved it, I highly recommend it if you like fantasy or even if you don’t.

SOCKDOLAGER | DECISIVE RETORT; MIC DROP
A CHARACTER WHO ALWAYS HAS A GOOD COMEBACK

For this I immediately thought of the charming and self-absorbed Carswell Thorne from ‘The Lunar Chronicles’

SESQUIPEDALIAN | CONTAINING MANY SYLLABLES; LONG WINDED
THE LONGEST BOOK YOU’VE READ

According to Goodreads the longest book I have marked as read is ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’. However, I have never actually read this book physically, I have only ever listened to it on audiobook. So, the longest book I have ever read myself is ‘Winter’ (the last book in The Lunar Chronicles) with 827 pages, just 43 pages less than Harry Potter.

EPHEMERAL | LASTING FOR A VERY SHORT TIME
THE SHORTEST BOOK YOU’VE READ

The shortest book I have read is, drumroll please, 4 PAGES long. Do you even consider that a book? Anyway, it was the Harry Potter Prequel, not many people know about this prequel but it does exist and it is was written by J.K.Rowling in 2008 for a charity event.

SERENITY | THE STATE OF BEING CALM, PEACEFUL, AND UNTROUBLED
A BOOK THAT MAKES YOU FEEL CALM AND HAPPY

For this any of my favourite books would work. So this time I am picking ‘Anne of Green Gables’ , a book I have read many times and that I associate many happy moments with. I feel like everybody has to read this book at least once in their life…..hint hint…..

OBLIVION | THE STATE OF BEING UNAWARE OF WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND YOU
A NOVEL WITH A COMPLEX PLOT

Don’t be annoyed with me, but I’m going to have to go with The Lunar Chronicles again. As the series goes on the books have more and more perspectives with the last one (Winter) having a crazy amount, can’t quite remember but I think it was 7 perspectives. Don’t quote me on that. Even though there are so many perspectives I think that Marissa Meyer pulls it off.

Can you tell I like this series?

RANTIPOLE | TO BE WILD AND RECKLESS
A RECKLESS CHARACTER

Definitely Iris from ‘Wicked like a Wildfire’, she is SOOOO reckless, the things she does in that book are crazy and in the sequel too, which I am currently reading. She really does deserve this title.

Also, isn’t that cover gorgeous.

NEFARIOUS | WICKED, VILLAINOUS, DESPICABLE
YOUR FAVOURITE VILLAIN

I am sorry to disappoint you but I don’t like villains and I do not have any favourite villains, perhaps I just haven’t read any books with good villains. If you read any good ones please recommend some to me, I would be grateful.

INEFFABLE | TOO GREAT TO BE EXPRESSED IN WORDS
YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK OR BOOK SERIES

…….. I am not going to go for The Lunar Chronicles again. I have quite a few favourite series. I am going to go for a new favourite of mine: ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ I just love this series so much, it is so good. I love Lara Jean and Peter they are just so cute. It’s just my favourite contemporary series.

TROUVAILLE | SOMETHING LOVELY DISCOVERED BY CHANCE
A BOOK YOU DIDN’T EXPECT TO LOVE

I’m going to join this with the previous part, I am also going for ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’. I read the first book in the series in May, even though, the books have been out for so long. The reason for that is I generally don’t like contemporary books so I thought I would not enjoy this series. Yet as you now know this book is now part of my favourite series.

NOSTALGIA | A WISTFUL DESIRE TO RETURN IN THOUGHT TO A FORMER TIME IN ONE’S LIFE
A BOOK OR CHARACTER THAT MAKES YOU FEEL NOSTALGIC

The Harry Potter series is one that makes me feel nostalgic, the reason is that I read this series for the first time long ago when I was so small, so when I re-read it (which I have fdone so several times) it reminds me of the time I first read the series.Harry Potter series covers.jpg

  1. Thank you so much for participating! I really love words, so I thought what better thing to do than make a book tag about them! “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” was much better than I anticipated; I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I also just love Lara Jean.
Wow…there’s a Harry Potter Prequel?!? Apparently, I’m not a true fan because I HAD NO IDEA!!! I need to read that!!!!
